New York Stimulus Payment: Who Will Receive Inflation Rebate Checks in September 2025?

Inflation continues to strain family budgets across New York.

To help, Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that the state will send out inflation rebate checks in late September 2025.

This plan gives back part of the money the state collected from higher sales taxes during inflation, providing direct relief to residents.

Who Is Eligible?

To get the New York stimulus payment, you must:

• Have filed Form IT-201 (New York State Resident Income Tax Return).

• Meet the income limits below.

• Not be claimed as a dependent on another person’s tax return.

How Much Will You Receive?

The payment amount depends on your income and filing status:

• Single filers

  • Earn $75,000 or less → $200 check

  • Earn $150,000 or less → $150 check

• Joint filers

  • Earn $150,000 or less → $400 check

  • Earn $300,000 or less → $300 check

No application is needed.

• Eligible New Yorkers will have checks automatically mailed to them.
